ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Philomena Liggins

Philomena Liggins is a speaker and writer specialising in the work of women during WW1 and WW2.

Philomena attended Bury Convent Grammar School and Salford Art College before moving to London. After a career in design and commerce she became a tour guide at Bletchley Park. She is the author of the website Books on Bletchley Park.co.uk and she has written two historical novels, Footprints - Secret Lives at Bletchley Park, and Moonlight Serenade - Secret Skies Over Bletchley Park, based on historical fact and the memories of members of the Women's Royal Naval Service who helped to break the German Enigma and Lorenz ciphers during WW2. Whilst researching her third novel, Bletchley Park's Secret Hospital, she discovered links with the hospital and one of the Special Operations Executive's training schools at nearby Chicheley Hall. That research led her to write, First Anywhere - The Story of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry 1909 - 1919.
