“Demystifying the Bombe”

Sir John Dermot Turing, author of “Demystifying the Bombe” visited Bletchley Park and spoke about the restoration of Hut 11A, one of the first buildings to house the Bombe machines which were used to help break into the Enigma cyphers.

Just a stone’s throw away from Huts 3, 6 and 8 where Bletchley Park’s visitors are taken back to the 1940s, Sir John hopes that funding will be raised to provide a permanent exhibition in Hut 11A explaining the workings of the Bombe machines and the important part they played during the Second World War.

The Bombe rebuild team currently based in Bletchley Park’s B Block provide regular demonstrations on their working Bombe machine.
